Marvin D. Jones,

80 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 24, 2018. Marvin was predecease­d by his mother and father William H. and Eunice Jones, daughter Margo Little, brothers William H. Jones, Jr., Willie Floyd Jones, sister Annie Dowtin, sistersin-law’s Lorene Jones, Dorothy Jones and Lucille Jones.

Marvin was born on September 12, 1938, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He was educated in the Halifax County school system. He migrated to Trenton, New Jersey, where he worked at the iconic Byers Men’s Store, Havenson’s Men’s Store and R.A. Donnelly. He retired June 2010 from Trenton Board of Education where he worked as a Security Guard impacting many lives. He was known by the students there as “Mr. Jordace” because of his fashion.

He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters Michele Jones (Gary), Marvis Jones, and a son Rodney Tillery. Brother Louis Jones of Trenton, NJ, sisters Laura Putney, Dora Garner of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Ethel Williams (Noah) of Hamilton Township, NJ. Seventeen grandchild­ren, Seven great grands. Former wife, Mertice Jones, a very special friend and caretaker Tina Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Friendship Baptist Church 111 Perry St. Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 9am until time of service at the church. Interment Ewing Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
