Roland F. Chipman of Hamilton Twp.

Roland F. Chipman, 83, of Hamilton Township, NJ, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton, Hamilton, NJ.

Born in Winsted, Connecticut, he resided in Hamilton Township for the past 59 years.

Mr. Chipman served in the US Army from 1954 to 1975 and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was in two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with First OLC, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal First Thru Sixth Award, 6 Overseas Service Bars, and another Bronze Star with First OLC.

He retired in 1996 after 20 years from Ocean Spray, Bordentown, NJ. He was an avid Phillies Fan, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Pre-deceased by his parents, John and Ruanna Carter Chipman, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benny and Rose Amato, 5 brothers, and a sister, he is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Angelina M. Amato Chipman, his daughter and son-inlaw, Rosalie and Brian R. Runkle, grandchildren, Matthew Runkle and his wife, Jeannette, and Lauren Runkle, and her fiancé, Dustin Morales.

Also survived by his brother-in-law, Richard Amato, and many nieces, nephews, loving cousins, close neighbors, and friends.

Christian Funeral Service will be held on Friday morning, November 16, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Brenna Funeral Home, Immordino Chapel, 1799 Klockner Road, Hamilton Township, NJ.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.

Calling hours for family and friends will be Thursday evening, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Brenna Funeral Home, Immordino Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
