LAWRENCEVILLE >> Stella Johnson is making the women’s basketball MAAC Player of the Week her own personal award.

Johnson earned the honor for a second straight week, this time after she posted the second tripledouble in program history in the Broncs’ 85-67 victory over Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday.

Johnson finished with 35 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. She did it on 14-of-19 from the floor, including 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.

“I didn’t even know,” Johnson said. “It wasn’t until Lexi Stover told me that I had a triple-double and I was like ‘awesome.’ I never had one before.”

It was the fifth tripledouble in Division I this season and first in the MAAC since January of 2005.

“It’s crazy how that is the first time since 2005,” Johnson said. “It’s just all the hard work paying off, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.”

Johnson has now scored 20 or more points in five straight games dating back to last season and her 35 points were two shy of a single-game program record.

It also marked her first career 30-point game.

“I just want to win,” Johnson said. “I didn’t want to be 0-4. It’s good to get that first one, especially with (Lexi) Posset out, I know I have to step up.”

Johnson leads the MAAC in scoring (25.3), assists (6.0), field goal percentage (50.0 percent) and 3-point field goals made (3.5).
