Nearly Assassinated

1. Twenty-three months before he died of natural causes, this musician was stabbed something like 40 times by a crazed assailant who broke into his home because he had his mind set on repeating history.

2. This French monarch, who at the age of 5 succeeded his stately namesake grandfather for the throne, laughed off what he called a “pinprick” after he was stabbed once by would-be assassin.

3. This French general and statesman had the gall to avoid D-Day actions even though it was in his country. His unapologetic approach to governing nearly got him killed years later while he was serving as president.
