BUTLER, SIXERS STEAL ONE FROM NETS

Jimmy Butler scored 34 points, including a 3-pointer with 0.4 second left to give the Sixers a 127-125 win over the Nets on Sunday evening.

The listless Sixers trailed for nearly the entire game and by as many as 20 before outscoring the Nets by 15 in the final quarter.

Joel Embiid added 32 points and 12 rebounds as the Sixers won back-toback road games for the first time this season.

D’Angelo Russell poured in a seasonhigh 38 points and Spencer Dinwiddie had 31 for the Nets.

NBA: Knicks hold off Grizzlies >> Tim Hardaway Jr. had 22 points, Enes Kanter added 21 and the Knicks beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 103-98, for their third straight win.

College Basketball: Villanova wins AdvoCare Invitation­al >> Collin Gillespie had 17 points, including two key late free throws, and Villanova won the AdvoCare Invitation­al by beating No. 14 Florida State 66-60.

Eric Paschall had 15 points and Phil Booth chipped in 12 for the defending national champions (5-2). Florida State (5-1) got 11 points from both Mfiondu Kabengele and Trent Forrest.

Women’s College Basketball: Rider beat up by Boston College >> Marnelle Garroud scored a careerhigh 28 points and Boston College raced past Rider, 112-61, to win the championsh­ip game of the Hawk Classic in Philadelph­ia.

The Eagles (6-0) outscored the Broncs (2-4), 31-4, in the second quarter. Stella Johnson paced Rider with 13 points.

College Football: Ohio State moves up >> Ohio State moved up to No. 6 in The Associated Press college football poll after trouncing rival Michigan.

The Buckeyes jumped four spots and the Wolverines fell four to No. 8, but overall the rankings were relatively stable after the last weekend of the regular season. Going into next week, when each FBS conference will play a championsh­ip game, Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame are the top three for the sixth straight poll. Georgia moved up a spot to No. 4 and Oklahoma is fifth. Unbeaten UCF also moved up a spot to No. 7. No. 9 Texas and Washington round out the top 10.
