Couple leads cops on chase with grandkids in back seat
TRENTON >> A pair of local grandparents led police on a car chase Thanksgiving night with two minors in the vehicle, but it’s not immediately clear why they fled.
Aaron Carter, 40, and Faith Marsh, 49, were arrested after police found a 4-year-old girl and a 16-year-old male in the backseat of the vehicle when Marsh finally pulled over and surrendered.
Officials say detectives were patrolling near Eisenhower and Coolidge avenues due to open-air drug sales and gun violence when they saw Carter talking with someone at the entrance of a Trenton Housing Authority complex.
The Samuel Haverstick and the Woodrow Wilson housing complexes, both located on the corner of Eisenhower and Coolidge, are flooded with narcotics, according to law enforcement who say the buildings are equipped with key codes that make it difficult for police to pursue a drug dealer or buyer who flees into those apartments.
Officials say Carter tried to enter one of the buildings after the man with him yelled “Five-O.”
While Carter pressed the buzzer requesting access into the building, he yelled, “Yo, yo, let me in. Hurry Up!.”
Police say Carter kept looking over his shoulder as cops approached in their patrol car, so the detectives stopped their vehicle to investigate further. And that’s when Carter ran.
Officials say Carter refused commands to stop running and jumped into
