Ewing Town Centre breaks ground on site of former GM plant
Atlantic Realty Development Corporation along with state, county and local dignitaries celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ewing Town Centre (ETC) at the site of the former General Motors Inland Fisher Guide Plant on Parkway Avenue in Ewing.
The 80-acre tract, which GM used to manufacture auto parts from 1938 to 1998 and which was converted by the U.S. Navy to build torpedo bombers during World War II, will now be home to 1,182 residential rental units, 109,102 square feet of retail and 12,600 square feet of offices.
The site will also include a 10,017 square foot amenities space.
Approved by the Ewing Township planning board in 2016, ETC represents an evolution for the Ewing community. Unoccupied for years, the site will be transformed into a vibrant, modern town center with easy access to highways, the West Trenton train station and the TrentonMercer Airport which is also being revitalized. Construction will begin immediately and will proceed in five phases starting with 164 apartments and a community green space. All commercial construction will be built at the front of the site to create a main street along Parkway Avenue.
Groundbreaking ceremony attendees included: Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes, Ewing Mayor Bert Steinmann, Ewing Council Vice President Kevin Baxter, Councilwoman Jennifer KeyesMaloney, Freeholder Pasquale “Pat” Colavita, Freeholder Ann Cannon and Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli.
