Williams thriving for East Stroudsbur­g men’s hoops team

Josh Williams (Notre Dame) had a career best 22 points and a career high 17 rebounds as the East Stroudsbur­g men’s basketball team scored a 105-85 win over Felician.

Williams’ career game earned him the Pennsylvan­ia State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Athlete of the Week honor.

He was the first East Stroudsbur­g player to have 20+ points and 15+ rebounds in a game since February 2017.

Williams is from Trenton and played his freshman season at Rider.

Towlen and Harkins Named All-MAC Freedom

Wilkes University women’s soccer players Nicolette Towlen (Ewing) and Niamh Harkins (Hopewell Valley) were named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Division first team.

Towlen led the team in scoring with seven goals and three assists. The former Blue Devil had a pair of game winning goals this season.

Harkins anchored the Wilkes defense that allowed just 20 goals on the season. Wilkes was 9-6-2 heading into the playoffs.

LaCava and Roberts Get MAC All-Freedom Honors

Manhatanvi­lle’s Cody LaCava (New Egypt) was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Division Rookie of the Year in men’s soccer.

His teammate freshman Charles Roberts (Pemberton) received All-Freedom Honorable Mention.

LaCava started 13 games and accounted for four goals and four assists, including a pair of game winners.

Roberts posted seven shutouts in the goal and had an impressive 0.94 goals against average.

Johnson Named NJAC Rookie of the Week

Ayanna Johnson (Pennington) was the New Jersey Athletic Conference women’s basketball Rookie of the Week after averaging 20.5 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a pair of games for Rowan.

Johnson had a great first NJAC game as she poured in 31 points and grabbed a Division III high 24 rebounds in a win over Rutgers-Camden.

The 24 caroms are the most in D3 this season.
