PHILADELPHIA >> If the Eagles are to mount a late playoff push, it will be without their third-leading rusher.

Corey Clement, who had run for 259 yards and two touchdowns this season before injuring his knee in a 29-23 loss Sunday in Dallas was placed Tuesday on injured reserve.

Defensive end Josh Sweat, who sustained an ankle injury in the Cowboys game, was also placed on the injured-reserve list.

To replace Clement, the Eagles signed running back Boston Scott from the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad. He is a second-year running back out of Louisiana Tech.

The Birds signed former Texans defensive lineman Daeshon Hall to replace Sweat. Previously, the Texas A&M product had been with the Panthers’ practice team.

The Birds also signed cornerback Josh Hawkins to their practice squad Tuesday. Recently released from the Chiefs’ practice squad, the East Carolina product had 26 games of NFL experience with the Packers in 2016 and 2017.

Monday, Doug Pederson said the Birds were awaiting an MRI report on Clement’s knee after the secondyear back was unavailable in the second half against the Cowboys. Isaac Seumalo left that game with a pectoral injury in the third quarter. Pederson has declared the left guard day to day.

In addition to his rushing yards, Clement had caught 22 passes for 192 yards.

Sweat, a rookie from Florida State, had played in nine games, providing one tackle.

Josh Adams leads the Eagles with 412 rushing yards. The Eagles’ season-long running back crisis, which included the loss to injury of Jay Ajayi, was eased some when Darren Sproles returned three games ago from a hamstring injury.
