GIANTS GAMEDAY

-

The Game: Cowboys (9-6) at Giants (5-10), MetLife Stadium, 1 p.m. (FOX)

The Line: New York by 7.

History: The Cowboys lead the all-time series, 65-46-2. Dallas has won three in a row including a home game in Week 2 earlier this season, 20-13. Key Matchups:

Giants RT Chad Wheeler vs. Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence — Ereck Flowers is no longer wearing blue, but this is a major mismatch as the Giants have received poor play from Wheeler this season. Lawrence is the NFL’s seventh-best edge defender, according to Pro Football Focus, and has 9.5 sacks.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley vs. Cowboys’ run defense — Barkley needs 54 rushing yards to pass the Rams’ Todd Gurley, who will not play this weekend, to potentially finish second in the NFL in total rushing yards. He also needs 114 total yards to become only the third rookie in history to reach 2,000 scrimmage yards. Dallas has allowed the fifth-fewest rushing yards in the league. Giants NT Dalvin Tomlinson vs. Cowboys RT Zack Martin — Tomlinson will face either a banged up Martin (questionable) or a backup to the Pro Bowler. The Giants’ run defense has suffered since trading Damon Harrison earlier this season, but Tomlinson has been a bright spot. Since Week 8 his run-defense grade by PFF ranks 14th among interior linemen with at least 98 snaps over that span.

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins vs. Cowboys WR Amari Cooper — New York’s veteran corner has had an up-and-down season and may have a tough time slowing down Cooper, who has transformed Dallas’ offense since being acquired in a trade with Oakland. In eight games he has 48 catches, six touchdowns and 694 receiving yards. Injury Report:

Giants: OUT: WR Odell Beckham Jr. (quad), WR Russell Shepard (ankle), WR Jawill Davis (knee), DL Mario Edwards (calf), TE Rhett Ellison (concussion), LB Alec Ogletree (concussion). Cowboys: OUT: DE Tyrone Crawford (neck), DL David Irving (ankle). QUESTIONABLE: CB Anthony Brown (back), LB Sean Lee (hamstring), OG Zack Martin (knee), OT Tyron Smith (neck).

Giant Facts: Saquon Barkley needs two receptions to break Reggie Bush’s NFL record for catches by a rookie running back. He can also break Odell Beckham Jr.’s franchise record for catches by a rookie at any position with five more. … Aldrick Rosas has made 31-of-32 field goal attempts including 18 in a row, the most by a Giant since Josh Brown made 29 consecutive kicks from 2014-15 . ... Defensive tackle B.J. Hill needs half a sack to break the Giants’ rookie record of 5.0 shared by Andy Headen (1983) and Cornelius Griffin (2000). Lawrence Taylor had 9.5 in 1981, but that was before sacks became an official stat. The Prediction: Cowboys 24, Giants 17.
