Mother Lucille McQuillar, 81, the daughter of the late Wilson Leach and Annie Mae Leach passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mother Lucille was born on December 23, 1937 in Dillon, SC. She was raised by the late MK Campbell and Katie Campbell.

Mother McQuillar went to school at night and graduated from TCHS in 1979. She retired from the Trenton Board of Education after 20 years of service. She also worked at UPI for 7 years and at Horn and Hardart for 5 years. Mother McQuillar was instrument­al in starting the Race Street/ Evans Avenue Crime Watch, and in organizing the National Night Out for Race, Evans and Vine Streets.

She was a member of the St. Paul AME Zion Church of Floyd Dale, SC. When she moved to Trenton, she became a member of the Victory Tabernacle Baptist Church. She joined Beauty Grove Baptist Church in 1985 where she faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible Study and was a member of the Usher Board.

In addition to her parents, Mother McQuillar was predecease­d by her brothers, Willie “Bo” Leach, Kenneth “KD” Leach, and Thorman Leach; and a son Bobby Richardson.

Mother McQuillar will be cherished and forever remembered by her loving husband of 63 years, James; her children, Shirley (Tony) Castle; Mary Ann; James (Deborah); Sam (Yvonne); Tyrone; Mark (Patricia); Michael (Tilmeena) and Tonia (James) Harrison; 29 grandchild­ren, 46 great-grandchild­ren; her siblings, Thurman Leach, Clemson (Esther) Leach, Leonard Leach, and Patricia Florence; one aunt, Elease Beacham; two sisters-in-law, Diane Leach and Barbara Leach; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Three grandchild­ren that she helped raise, DeJean McQuillar, Rashawn Garrett and Jamie Harrison.

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, January 4, 2019 at Beauty Grove Primitive Baptist Church 66 Race St. Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 9am until time of service at the church. Interment Ewing Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are by the Hughes Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
