NJ Transit pulls plug on people who power up at Trenton train station

-

A major cover-up has occurred at Trenton Transit Center although this event has happened without covert activity.

New Jersey Transit has taken an interesting initiative to deal with people who charge iphones, laptops and other electrical devices inside the bustling train station as a recent effort removed all electrical boxes and covered those spaces with metal covers.

“The only place you can charge a phone or receive power is downstairs in the waiting room,” a New Jersey Transit police officer said.

What’s this really about? Homeless people or non-commuters in need of a little electrical juice to remain plugged in to their worlds. All electrical sockets are covered as daily commuters employ chargers or wait until they can find power elsewhere.

An urban legend passed through the busy transit terminal said the issue reached a crisis level when a woman charged her electrical wheelchair.

“She sat there for more than two hours and after that, they covered up all the electrical boxes and removed that charging table that used to be over there. They don’t like people hanging around for any extended period of time,” an employee noted.

While New Jersey Transit implements an important outreach to the city’s homeless population, frequently identifying people in need and finding resolution to many of their issues, covering electrical outlets seems drastic.
