No plows can deliver occasionally a better result than snow plows
To plow or not to plow, that is the question.
Whether tis nobler to allow Nature’s precipitation to lie virgin or to press the snowfall against cars and block shoveled driveways?
Sure, it’s still winter but snow and the forecast of frigid temperatures causes shock but many local streets did not need snow plows. It’s two inches of snow and slush. Instead, complaints rolled into The Trentonian from residents who were forced to shovel.
A woman from Duffield Ave. in Ewing Twp. phoned and complained about a snow plow that piled a large chunk of snow at the end of her driveway. “Everything was cleared and then they came by and left the snow there.”
Meanwhile, two photos on Tioga St. in Trenton underscored the idea that occasionally public works should just maintain the busy streets and leave our small avenues alone.
Here’s two photos of Tioga St. which runs perpendicular to Chambers St. Notice the first block of Tioga had a snowplow that fashioned a row of large boulders of snow. The next photo shows the second block of Tioga. You see the difference? Yes.
That’s a “Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines” zone and drive away. When it does snow, residents want minimal shoveling.
After Friday, winter appears over, but government officials who deal with public works should note that no plows can frequently deliver a safer and better result than snow plows.
