Alleged DWI: William Miller, 54, of Trenton, was arrested early Wednesday on charges he was driving while intoxicated. Around midnight, Trenton Police were patrolling the area of Hamilton Avenue and Hudson Street when they observed a silver Cadillac vehicle speeding off after engaging with an unknown pedestrian. Police pursued the vehicle and signaled for the driver to pull over. The driver, identified as Miller, initially ignored the commands but eventually came to a stop, and officers assisted him out of the vehicle on the 300 block of South Clinton Avenue. Miller could not stand up or maintain his balance. He appeared to be intoxicated and had an open container of alcohol on the front seat of his vehicle. He resisted as officers placed him under arrest. Officers also found a small digital gram scale in the vehicle with white residue on it. Miller refused to give a breath sample. In addition to being charged with DWI, he was charged with resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dog Shot: Cristino Santiago, 28, of Trenton, was arrested Monday on weapons offenses on allegations he shot and seriously wounded a dog. The shooting occurred about noontime Feb. 27 on the 500 block of Lamberton Street. Police responded to a call of shots fired and found the dog on a front porch suffering from a gunshot wound. The projectile traveled through the dog’s upper leg and exited through his groin. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital, where he underwent surgery and survived his injury. Police eventually identified Santiago as the alleged triggerman in the case. Trenton Police, New Jersey State Police and the U.S. Marshal Service executed an arrest warrant at Santiago’s residence on the 600 block of Chambers Street on Monday. He was taken into custody there without incident. Officers found weapons in plain view inside the apartment. Officers then obtained a search warrant to check the apartment. The officers during the search found five total weapons, including a rifle. All of the weapons were confiscated from the apartment and Santiago was booked at the Mercer County Correction Center on numerous offenses. Stolen Vehicle: Daquan S. Conover, 20, of Trenton, was arrested Tuesday on receiving stolen property charges and eluding police. About 5 p.m. Tuesday, officers were in the area of Monmouth Street and Walnut Avenue when they observed a gray Honda going toward the train station on Greenwood Avenue. The vehicle committed a motor vehicle violation of failing to stop. The officers checked the license plate tags of the vehicle and learned it was reported stolen. Police activated emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle sped off. Police pursued the vehicle, which came to final rest in the area of North Montgomery and East Hanover streets after crashing into another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured and refused medical treatment. The offending vehicle had three occupants who each fled from the vehicle after the crash. Two of those occupants successfully got away on foot. But the driver, identified as Conover, was chased on foot and apprehended on North Stockton Street. Conover resisted arrest and had a gram of marijuana in his pocket, police said. He was hauled into police custody and charged with various offenses, including receiving stolen property, eluding and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.
