Scoring big goals is nothing new to Kali Hartshorn, so she added another one to the ever-growing list last weekend.

Hartshorn, the former Allentown High and Trentonian Player of the Year, scored in overtime to give No. 2 Maryland a thrilling 12-11 win over No. 4 Syracuse in women’s lacrosse.

“The Syracuse game was awesome,” Hartshorn said. “The best part about that game was that even though we did not play our best lacrosse, we came out with a win”

The goal, her only of the game, was Hartshorn’s 11th on the season. She had nine draw controls in the game and has 15 on the season.

“The Syracuse win was a huge team effort,” Hartshorn said. “Without the help of Megan Taylor in goal, Lizzie (Colson) and Jen (Giles) on the circle helping me win draws and Hannah’s (Warther) great feed at the end along with Brindi’s (Griffin) box out we wouldn’t have had a chance to win in overtime.”

The Terrapins are 6-0 and host Penn on Wednesday. Not too far down the road Hartshorn and Maryland are coming to New Jersey on March 30 to face Rutgers. That will be a family reunion. Kali’s sister Marin is a freshman for the Scarlet Knights and having a great debut season with 13 goals, six assists and 28 draw controls.

“My parents cannot be more thrilled to watch both my sister and I compete against each other,” Kali said. “The last time Marin and I played lacrosse together was in 2016. I am beyond proud of what she has done so far.”

Knowing the Hartshorn sisters, you know they both still have more to accomplish and this will be a very competitive reunion. Tournament, but despite a 10-point performance by Braxton in the final, St. Francis fell to Fairleigh Dickinson and had to settle for the NIT bid. career at TCNJ.
