Dope: Brandon Cain, 19, was popped by street crime detectives holding a brick of heroin. Freehold

Computer Thief: Corey Jester, 49, of Freehold, was sentenced for stealing 28 computers from the New Jersey Schools Development Authority while he worked there as a temp employee, authorities said. He was sentenced to five years of probation by Superior Court Judge Robert W. Bingham II in Mercer County, along with 180 days in the county jail. The judge undercut prosecutors’ bid to have Jester locked up for three years, as part of a plea deal he reached with the state. Jester must serve the jail stint at the end of his probation unless it’s waived if Jester abides by all probationary conditions. Jester pleaded guilty last October to third-degree theft by unlawful taking and was ordered to pay restitution of $22,085 to the New Jersey Schools Development Authority. He has already paid $5,000. Jester had been employed by a company contracted by the state to provide temporary IT staff. He was contracted in 2017 to be a temporary employee at the IT helpdesk for the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA). While employed at the SDA, Jester accessed a storage closet and stole 28 computers, including mini PC computers and laptops. Jester cleaned data from the computers, installed new software, and sold them online, anywhere between $100 to $200 per computer. The SDA discovered that computers were missing in December 2017. State Police arrested Jester in January 2018.
