Shootings wound 5, suspects remain at large
TRENTON >> Gun violence wounded five victims in the capital city on Friday.
An afternoon shooting injured three men in the 100 block of East Ingham Avenue, and a nighttime shooting injured a man and woman on the 1500 block of South Clinton Avenue, police said.
Officers responded to the 100 block of East Ingham Avenue near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about 2 p.m. Friday and located three men suffering from gunshot wounds, including an 18-year-old hit in the pelvis and knee, a 23-year-old struck in the torso and a 19-year-old who suffered a graze wound, according to Trenton Police Capt. Stephen Varn.
One victim refused medical treatment for his minor graze injury while the other two victims in the East Ingham shooting were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in stable condition, Varn said.
Officers responded to the 1500 block of South Clinton Avenue about 9:40 p.m. Friday and located two victims struck by gunfire, including a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, Varn said Saturday.
Both South Clinton victims are New York residents, and both of them were inside of a vehicle when shot, Varn said, adding the male has suffered a gunshot wound to the cheek and female suffered a gunshot wound to her back. They both were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Varn said the victims in the South Clinton Avenue shooting were supposed to meet with two other individuals in the area when armed suspects entered the victims’ vehicle, opened fire and fled.
Police have not announced any arrests in either shooting incident as of Saturday afternoon, and no suspect descriptions were released.
The Mercer County Shooting Response Team is investigating both incidents. Anyone with information is urged to call the Trenton Police Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
