Key Matchups

Giants QB Daniel Jones vs. Bucs secondary: Youth faces youth as Jones makes his first start against a secondary that features starters all age 25 or younger. The Bucs are 11th in the league in yards allowed per pass attempt. Coordinator Todd Bowles is 3-0 (as a head coach) against rookie starting quarterbacks. Giants LT Nate Solder/RT Mike Remmers vs. Bucs OLB Shaquil Barrett: Barrett has been one of the sport’s most disruptive players with a league-high four sacks, including three last week against Carolina. Solder and Remmers, who have had average starts to the year, are tasked with blocking Barrett’s pressure on the edge.

Giants CB DeAndre Baker vs. Bucs WRs Mike Evans/Chris Godwin: Baker’s rookie entrance to the NFL hasn’t been welcoming. He’s allowed a league-leading 272 yards in coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. Tampa will no doubt target him in the passing game. There’s a big advantage here for arguably the league’s best wide receiver tandem.

Giants OLB Lorenzo Carter vs. Bucs LT Donovan Smith: The Giants hope Carter, a second-year pro, can break out this year. So far, he’s totaled just half a sack and three quarterback hits. Smith, who signed a $41.25 million deal this offseason, has struggled in pass protection but held his own in run blocking.
