Concerning Mayor Yaede
The current controversy swirling around Mayor Yaede, her administration and indirectly the political party bosses is a clear indication that our elected officials have lost their way as effective representatives of the will of people of Hamilton Township for competent and efficient governance.
The concentration of political power in the hands of either political party has resulted in corrupt behavior, nepotism, ethical violations and potential criminality.
To restore the public confidence in our elected representatives, I believe that the times demand that we consider the benefits of changing the current partisan form of government to non-partisan. This change would require the election of a mayor, three atlarge council seats and four ward council seats. This approach would allow our elected officials who would be more familiar with the various sections of the township to serve and be better able to respond to their constituent concerns. Non-partisan elections could significantly reduce the political abuse inherent in the political parties and reclaim the public’s faith in our political system. I encourage my Hamilton neighbors to petitions our local officials to conduct a charter study to determine the feasibility of this recommendation.
