Pennsbury romps past Bensalem
BENSALEM, PA. >> As expected, the surging Pennsbury High School football team had no trouble posting a 4312 victory over Bensalem last night.
A winner of three in a row after a tough three closes losses to start the season, Pennsbury roared down the field right away on long runs by Drew Hensor and Brad Mickels to set up a 1-yard sneak by quarterback C.J. Kohler.
By the time the first half had ended with Pennsbury holding a 34-0 lead, Mickels had scored two more touchdowns on runs of 48 and 20 yards, and Kohler had thrown two TD passes to speedy Christian Bond.
Pennsbury coach Dan McShane, who is a teacher at Bensalem High, inserted his back-ups into the game in the second quarter.
This is the second straight year Pennsbury has bounced back from an 0-3 start with three straight wins. Next up is a huge road game next Saturday at Truman in a game that could go a long way in determining the Suburban One National champion. TRUMAN 49, CR NORTH 20 NEWTOWN, PA. >> The red-hot Tigers are now 4-2 after Dajuan Harris continued to run well with four more touchdowns. The Conwell-Egan transfer now has 13 touchdowns in the last three weeks.
ABINGTON 37, NESHAMINY 13 ABINGTON, PA. >> The Galloping Ghosts used a strong all-around effort to improve to 5-1 and drop Neshaminy to 2-4. It was also Neshaminy’s second league loss. The lone undefeated teams left in Sub One National league play are Truman, Pennsbury and Abington.
