DelVal tops Bound Brook in North 2, Group I

It was a little bit tougher than expected, but the Delaware Valley High School wres- tling team was able to beat Bound Brook, 42-31, Friday night in the North Jersey 2 Group I title match.

It marked the 19th time in its illustrious history that Delaware Valley has won a sectional title and sixth in the last seven years.

DelVal will be back in action Sunday in the Group I Groups in Toms River. Its semifinal opponent will be Pt. Pleasant Beach, which advanced with a win over Manville. Should it prevail, Delaware Valley will almost certainly face state power Paulsboro in the finals.

Hunterdon Central, meanwhile, got knocked out in Central Jersey Group V when it fell to Manalapan, 38-19. This meant the Red Devils finished the year with 998 wins in program history.

Burlington County’s lone remaining team in sectionals, Moorestown fell to defending Group IV state champion Kingsway, 46-19 in the South Jersey final.
