Matthew D’Ambrosia is successfully putting the strikeout record at Muhlenberg College out of reach.

The former Hightstown High star became the Mules’ all-time leader in strikeouts in an unbelievable pitching performance against Lesley.

D’Ambrosia fanned 21 batters, and in the process surpassed Gregg Burkhart’s mark of 203 set in 2005. The former Ram has 218 career K’s.

The 21 strikeouts are also a single-game record. The old record was 17 by Tom Bird and had stood since 1965.

Muhlenberg won the game, 5-0, as D’Ambrosia, who was named the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week, allowed only three hits.

He is 2-0 on the season with an 0.95 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 19 innings.
