Mercedes Emily Grant, 92 passed away at her home at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilita­tion Center in Hillsborou­gh, New Jersey on Wednesday April 29th.

Mercedes was born in Trenton, NJ, moved to Upper Makefield Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvan­ia, where she raised her family, and retired to Boca Raton, Florida. Mercedes graduated from Villa Victoria Academy in Bucks County, PA and received her nursing degree from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ. She was employed by McKinley Hospital until she started her family. Mercedes was predecease­d by her parents, Albuino (Albert) and Concetta (Jennie) Mastrangel­o, Edward F. Grant, her husband of 57 years, and her two brothers, Mitchell Mastrangel­o and Father Duane Edmond Mastrangel­o.

Mercedes is survived by her three children: Barry Grant, PhD of Chicago, IL, Jeffrey Grant of Belle Meade, NJ, and Mariane Sisti and her husband, John, of Spring Lake, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren, Benjamin Sisti and his wife Erin, Mary Sisti and her husband Adam, Hannah Sisti, Keri, Alec and Kyle Grant, and Tessza Vitalis-Grant.

Mercedes was an elegant woman with a flair for fashion and home decor. She dedicated her entire adult life to her husband, children, grandchild­ren and extended family. Mercedes was an excellent cook and took much pride in her home. Everything was in its place, and there was a place for everything. She loved entertaini­ng, especially family dinners, where discussion­s often continued long after meals ended. Her holiday parties and summer picnics are still discussion topics. She was, by all accounts, the grande dame of family and friends wherever she called home.

Due to COVID-19 all services are private. The family will schedule a Memorial Mass in honor of Mercedes that will be announced in the near future. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of the Hillsborou­gh Funeral Home, Hillsborou­gh, NJ.
