Senior Spotlight: Hun’s Ally Cowan

- Joe O’Gorman Columnist

As the spring sports season has been canceled, The Trentonian continues to recognize the girls lacrosse seniors that were denied their final season.

After scoring 57 goals in 2019, Ally Cowan was ready for another great season at Hun. There’s no doubt it would’ve been of AllPrep caliber. Also a soccer player, lacrosse is her sport and it showed in the last three games of 2019 when Cowan dominated scoring 17 goals and helping on seven other goals.

It was during this fantastic stretch she went over the 100-goal milestone. JO’G » What were your thoughts when the 2020 season was canceled? AC» My initial thoughts when the season got canceled was shocking. It was truly disappointing because I had high hopes that the team was off to a great start. A successful team is built with chemistry and that only comes with practice and playing time. I was optimistic that we were going to do great things this season. I was devastated when that was taken away from my teammates and I. JO’G » You have scored over 100 goals between Lenape and Hun, what does that milestone mean to you?

AC» This milestone means that I have always been surrounded by great teammates that supported me during the three seasons that I got to play. I couldn’t have been more thankful to hit that milestone with the girls I have played with.

JO’G » Have you enjoyed your time at Hun?

AC » I have definitely enjoyed my time at Hun. It was the best decision I could have made for my high school career both academically and athletically. I was supported with so many amazing coaches, teammates, and teachers. JO’G » What are your plans for the fall? AC» My plan for the fall is to continue my academic and athletic career at Jacksonville University to play division one lacrosse.

JO’G » You also played soccer, what is your favorite sport?

AC» I loved playing soccer and lacrosse throughout my high school career, but I am a little bit more passionate about lacrosse.

JO’G » What is your favorite Hun moment?

AC» I have had countless of special Hun moments and it is really hard to narrow it down to a specific one, but I will never forget achieving the milestone of my 100th goal. That feeling of success was so memorable to me. JO’G» What is the one thing about Ally Cowan that everyone needs to know? AC» What everyone needs to know about me is that even though people know me as a competitive and athletic person, I have a soft side and I care a lot about others.
