LALDEF executive director steps down
Latin American Legal Defense & Education Fund announced that Dina Paulson-McEwen stepped down as its executive director, effective June 30, to pursue other interests.
Lorraine Goodman, LALDEF’s director of Marketing & Advancement, will assume the position of interim executive director while the board of trustees conducts a search for a new executive director.
“We wish Dina well, thank her for her service to LALDEF, and look forward to seeing what she will do next,” said Patricia Fernandez-Kelly, LALDEF’s Board Chair via a press release.
“We are incredibly grateful that Lorraine, a seasoned development professional and the former development officer of Princeton AlumniCorps, has agreed to lead the organization while we conduct a search.
“LALDEF has continued to provide its vital services to immigrants throughout the pandemic and is wellpositioned to reopen the doors of its Trenton office, Welcome House / Casa de Bienvenida. We are excited to continue to move the organization forward, after three years of rapid growth serving our community.”
Paulson-McEwen had succeeded Adriana Abizadeh in December 2019 after LALDEF had celebrated a three-year growth period that included 15 paid staff members and a volunteer group that swelled to more than 40.
Founded in 2004, LALDEF is a social impact organization whose mission is to promote the rights of all immigrants.
LALDEF provides English-as-a-Second Language classes, delivers legal representation in immigration matters, tax preparation assistance, aids domestic violence victims, distributes community identification cards, and supplies education programs for youngsters in transition to college.
