PHILS SALVAGE FINALE AGAINST NATS

-

WASHINGTON » Bryce Harper homered twice against his former team, Zach Eflin pitched into the ninth inning and the Phillies snapped a fourgame losing streak with a 12-1victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night that kept them in the postseason hunt.

Andrew McCutchen, Didi Gregorius and Andrew Knapp also hit home runs for the Phillies (28-29), who finish the season with a three-game set at the Tampa Bay Rays. Both of Harper’s homers were solo shots that give him a team-best 13on the season.

Eflin allowed three runs on six hits and struck out nine over eight-plus innings. He went back out for the ninth, but allowed a leadoff single and then a two-run homer to Juan Soto before being lifted.
