The Trentonian (Trenton, NJ)

Honoring All-Stars at Hun, Stuart, PDS, Pennington

- Staff Report

Four prep schools made the most of an abbreviated season and through these difficult times they all had a season to remember.

There were also many players that excelled on the field and The Trentonian would like to recognize them with our AllPrep Team.

Before we get to the players, the four coaches, Missy Bruvik (Stuart), Wendy Morris (Pennington), Heather Farlow (Princeton Day) and Tracey Arndt (Hun) deserve recognition for the job they did making sure these young ladies had the opportunity to play the sport they love and enjoy.

We will take a look at each team and the players to be recognized as the 2020 All-Prep team.

Stuart

The Tartans recorded a 5-3-1 record this season and did it with a nice mix of veterans and rookies.

Lily Harlan, a sophomore, led the way with four goals and six assists. Catherine Martin, who tallied four goals, was another impressive forward.

The Stuart midfield was anchored by Kaitlyn Magnani. Magnani is a junior and one of the most talented players in the area.

Lia Bull Krieg and Audrey Blandford were standouts on defense. Bull Krieg wasn’t backing down from a challenge and Blandford stood tall in the cage.

Princeton Day

The Panthers were a team that just kept getting better through the

year and had players like Jadyn Huff and Ally Antonacci keeping the pressure on the cage helping them to a 3-3 mark.

Huf f, just a sophomore, had three goals and Antonacci, a junior, caged two goals and added three assists.

Freshman Tessa Caputo came along and was a great addition on the attack.

Franny Gallagher, a junior, was one of the toughest defenders around and was a key to everything the Panthers accomplished.

Pennington

It was a great season for the Red Raiders with a 3-3-1 mark.

This was a team that

just never quit and battled every game. Senior Sammi Moonay was the prep’s leading scorer with seven goals and is a gifted talent.

The front line defense was led by a pair of seniors in Bridget Lawn and Sophia Cano. It was a defense that rose to the occasion and when things got tough, they got tougher.

The tandem of senior Emily Barkley and junior Lucy Harding split time in goal each game and both gave brilliant performances.

Hun

The Raiders are a team that continues to grow and it was evident in their seven games

as they were 1-6. They lost three games by one goal, including an overtime season final contest with PDS.

Kayla Hampton, a senior, was a great team player as she patrolled the midfield with great intensity. A player that loves the competition, she used her speed to help the Raiders.

Ashley Jones was the heart and soul of the Raiders, sparking the attack on offense and always challenging the opposition’s top player. She is one of the reasons for so much optimism on Edgerstoune Road as she is only a junior.

Defense has been a key in the growth at Hun and newcomer Abby

O’Brien fit right in. She played with poise and was a player that enjoyed the competitiveness of the position. Just a sophomore, she recorded several defensive saves this season.
