GIANTS GAMEDAY
The Game: Browns (9-4) at Giants (5-8), Sunday, 8:20p.m. ET (NBC)
The Line: Cleveland by 6.5
History: The Browns lead the all-time series, 27-22-2. But the Giants have won six of the last seven meetings since 1991 including 2016in Cleveland, 27-13. This is the 50th meeting dating back to 1950. Key Matchups:
Giants LT Andrew Thomas vs. Browns DE Olivier Vernon: The Giants’ first-round pick continues to have an uneven season, but overall his improvement has been encouraging. This is Vernon’s first game against his former team since being traded to Cleveland last year. He’s second on the team with seven sacks and 10QB hits. Giants TE Evan Engram vs. Browns MLB B.J. Goodson: Goodson is another ex-Giant playing well in Cleveland as he’s started all 13games. Engram has had two straight tough outings (50total receiving yards) after recording a career-high 129 yards in Week 13.
Giants CB Julian Love vs. Browns WR Jarvis Landry: Love, normally a safety, could play his college position this week because top corner James Bradberry is on the COVID-19/reserve list. The Giants figure to play a lot of zone defense, but Love must be ready to match up with Cleveland’s top receiver. Landry has 728yards.
Ryan has done an excellent job of disguising coverages pre-snap and confusing quarterbacks. He has one interception and three forced fumbles this year, and the Giants will have a better chance at an upset if Ryan can bait Mayfield (eight interceptions) into a big mistake.
OUT: CB Darnay Holmes (knee). QUESTIONABLE: TE Evan Engram (calf), QB Daniel Jones (hamstring/ankle), TE Kaden Smith (knee), RG Kevin Zeitler (shoulder).
Browns: OUT: G Wyatt Teller (ankle), S Andrew Sendejo (concussion). QUESTIONABLE: WR KhaDarel Hodge (hamstring), TE Austin Hooper (neck), CB Kevin Johnson (groin), TE David Njoku (knee), CB Denzel Ward (calf).
