The Trentonian (Trenton, NJ)

It’s treason then

- — Ed Note

Treason is the only crime specifically mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. It’s in Article 3, Section 3 and it’s short & to the point. One way to commit the ONLY crime mentioned in the Constitution is to participate in “levying War” against the United States. The Capitol Building in Washington D.C. represents, and in many ways IS, the United States. When armed, pre-meditating thugs violently attack and invade the Capitol Building, and there are fatal and non-fatal casualties on both sides, they are, by definition “levying War” upon the United States. They are fairly obviously guilty of treason. As The Loser-in-Chief pointed out recently, we used to hang those guilty of treason. Once again, it’s too bad he won’t be “hoist by his own petard”.

— A Lawrence Reader

I don’t know if breaking windows and trespassing really qualifies as treason. It was a terrible day and people should be facing criminal charges, but treason is, and should be, a higher threshold than saying nasty things about Nancy Pelosi and sitting at her desk like a moron.

Professional aggitators

I’m wondering why I haven’t seen coverage about all of the professional agitators that were present. Not many peaceful protesters carry steel bars around with them!

And, why wasn’t there better planning when everyone knew the numbers of protesters coming?

— Concerned in Hamilton

Because that didn’t happen. The attack on the capitol building was a bunch of self-righteous fanatics riled up by Trump and their own sense of entitlement.
