Lottery musings for Tesla and NYC address

Think positively.

With that instruction on the table, accepting all congratulations on winning Tuesday night’s MegaMillions $850 million lottery.

Or, looking further ahead, daps are in order for claiming the lone winning ticket for the Power Ball $730 million drawing.

Wow! $1.6 billion richer. Okay, it’s not Jeff Bezos money

— his net worth is $182 billion even after his costly divorce

— but the lottery money surpasses riches allegedly banked by soon to be former President Donald Trump.

Even with the new riches, wonder why the U.S. government failed to issue me a $600 stimulus payment. Will check the website again for the umpteenth time.

And, wonder if this new wealth can get me a COVID-19 vaccination. Enlisted for the shot but no date or named site for the two injections. Apparently, being disproportionately impacted by corona virus offers no immediacy for care.

COVID-19 lurks as a conspiracy to kill off blacks, browns and the elderly. Win the monetary lottery but lose the health lottery? Makes for a fantastic going home service.

Wins in either lottery would mean Uncle Sam taking his cut off the top. Think of any former big-haired McCorristin High coed being sheared for a buzz cut.

Federal and state taxes could reduce $850 million to approximately $400 million if the winner accepts a lumpsum payout. Ouch.

Sorry to hear McCorristin/ TrentonCatholic Academy may close doors in June. Alumni hope to forge a coalition and raise enough money for keeping the lights on. School supporters will meet with Catholic Diocese officials on Thursday.

So, with my winnings halved, here’s how some money gets spent.

Family first. Uhh, you’re my long lost second cousin on my mother’s side from Douglas, Georgia? Immediate family first.

Next, follow the lead of Trenton’s Smith family which won a $429.6 million Powerball lottery in May 2016 then founded nonprofit Smith Family Foundation — a private grant-making institution that seeks to cultivate leaders and transform lives by providing funding and development opportunities to Trenton-based organizations.

City of Trenton remains blessed by the Smith family’s desire to uplift people. By the way, condolences to the Smith family following the Jan. 3 passing of Seamon Smith who served as vice-chair and Board Member of the Smith Family Foundation.

Smith inspired young men to grow and develop into responsible men as husbands and fathers.

Next, establish a foundation that rebuilds the city’s library system. Failure to invest in all aspects of education hamstrings this city’s education efforts.

Of course, a lottery win means moving out. Maybe New York City. It’s amazing that lottery dreams produce an idea to move out of this flawed country.

Yet, the U.S. remains a better option than most other world destinations.

Ooh, look. A Tesla self-driving automobile made by billionaire Elon Musk.

Give me one of those and one for Spit Decision cohort, Jeff Edelstein.

Later y’all.
