- By Joe O'Gorman jogorman@trentonian.com

It was another stellar year in the prep ranks as Princeton Day School reached the final in the Mercer County Tournament and played in the NJSIAA state tournament for the first time.

Lawrenceville was in final of the Mid-Atlantic Prep League and played well after a year off.

Stuart got off to a great start and was a tough out in the MCT and in the Prep B final.

There was a lot of growth this season at Hun as that program made great strides, while Pennington and Peddie were young and continued to grow.

Here is a look at the All-Trentonian Prep award winners and first team. PLAYER OF THE YEAR/OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALLY ANTONACCI, PRINCETON DAY » Antonacci was the soul of the Panthers, leading them to both the MCT and Prep final. She tallied 18 goals and added 15 assists and was deserving of Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR, ANNA GILL, LAWRENCEVILLE » Early on in her career it was easy to see Gill was going to be a good one. She caged 12 goals for the Big Red and had 14 helpers.

DEFENDER OF THE YEAR, KAITLYN MAGNANI, STUART » Magnani controlled the midfield from an offensive and a defensive standpoint. A true on the field leader for the Tartans, she had 10 goals.

GOALIE OF THE YEAR, AUDREY BLANDFORD, STUART » The greatest aspect of Blandford’s game was her consistency. A player who played with confidence and the trust of her teammates.

TESS CAPUTO » Just a sophomore, Caputo was a key component Princeton Day’s offense with a team high 19 goals.

LILY HARLAN » A gifted stick handler and a dynamic offensive player, Harlan has 15 goals and 17 assists for Stuart.

AVA OLENDER » A key player for Hun,

Olender tallied four goals and always came up big in the clutch. RYANN BUCHNER » Buchner was one of the steady performers with a young Peddie team and her leadership was invaluable.

ASHLEY JONES » Jones brought a bunch of talent to the field and was instrumental to Hun’s success. She tallied four goals and had three assists. JADYN HUFF » One of the most explosive players in the area, Huff caged nine goals and had 12 assists. Her play was vital to the success Princeton Day achieved.

CAITLIN HOOVER » A solid player in the midfield for Lawrenceville, Hoover accounted for 13 goals and added three assists. A player who more than held her own in the midfield.

COCO HUNT » Another Lawrenceville player who had a solid season in the midfield. Hunt was a key to getting stops and then starting the Big Red attack.

DAISY HUTNIK » One of the top players on Pennington, Hutnik did a solid job in the midfield and added five goals. Hutnik’s skills continued to improve throughout the season. PHOEBE THIELMANN » The only freshman on the first team, Thiemann didn’t play like one as she showed maturity and at the same time a lot of

growth as a player. The Hun player had three goals and one assist. FRANNY GALLAGHER » Often the Princeton Day defense didn’t get the credit it deserved and one of the reasons was the steady and consistent play of Gallagher as it was a given she was going to get the job done. AVA VECCHIONE » When there seemed to be pressure in the backfield it was Vecchione who came to Pennington’s rescue, settling the situation and most times getting the ball moving the other way.

DEVAN MORAY » One of the trademarks of the great Lawrenceville teams was a great shutdown defense and this season it was Moray keeping up the Big Red tradition. CAROLINE JOHNSON » A true senior leader for Peddie, Johnson was so influential in the growth of the younger players on the team. She always played a solid game in the back. KEYA PATEL » The Stuart defense was one of the hallmarks of its success this season and a lot had to do with the play of Patel on the back line. LUCY HARDING » One of the veterans on the Pennington squad, Harding was the glue for the team as no matter what the situation they knew they could depend on her to come through.
