Sixers sign Powell to two-way contract

Trenton makes and now the 76ers take.

The Sixers signed guard Myles Powell on a twoway contract, the team announced on Sunday.

Powell, a former star at Trenton Catholic Academy and then Seton Hall, joins the Sixers after appearing in 14 total G League games over the last two seasons with the Westcheste­r Knicks.

Powell appeared in 13 of the team’s 15 games last season, averaging 17.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals in 28.1 minutes per contest. He also ended the season ranked top-10 in the G League in three-point percentage at .446, finishing with the best mark of any player with at least 80 attempts from beyond the arc.

At Seton Hall, Powell was the 2019-20 Big East Player of the Year as a senior, finishing his career as the program’s’ third alltime leading scorer. Powell averaged 17.5 points in 129 career games and posted a 21 points per game in his final seas as the Pirates won the Big East regular season title with a 21-9 record.

Powell signed with the Knicks in 2020 as an undrafted free agent.

Per NBA rules, teams are permitted to have a maximum of two players under two-way contracts in addition to the players under standard NBA contracts. A two-way player for the Sixers can also play for the team’s G League affiliate the Delaware Blue Coats.

Powell could make his NBA debut on Monday night, with the Sixers scheduled to play at the Boston Celtics. The Sixers’ game on

to the team not having a of health and safety protocols enough players due to a mix and injuries.
