Celebration, education and participation highlight the second annual Robbinsville Pride event.

Following a successful initial event that generated interest, collaboration and conversation on myriad topics, Robbinsville Pride returns on Saturday, June 4. PJ’s Pancake House & Tavern at 17 Main St. hosts the event that runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizers said all are welcome to celebrate, learn, and participate in this special event.

Robbinsville Pride registers as a celebration for the local LGBTQ+ community and its allies to come together and recognize the impact of LGBTQ+ individuals locally and beyond.

Plus, this event recognizes the trials faced by the LGBTQ+ community historically and currently.

Of course, this Pride party honors the triumphs of those who fought and continue to fight for full equality; and reaffirms a shared commitment to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

“Though the Robbinsville Democratic Club is sponsoring and coordinating Robbinsville Pride, it is not a political event, and we welcome everyone in and around town to join us in celebrating and supporting our local LGBTQ+ community,” says Amanda Gruber, vice president of the Robbinsville Democratic Club, and chair of the Pride Event Committee.

“It is more important than ever that our LGBTQ+ neighbors, especially our children, know they are supported and loved in Robbinsville.”

The event is funded entirely by local and corporate philanthropy, and the Pride Event Committee currently engages in fundraising efforts while seeking sponsors who wish to contribute.

Robbinsville Pride will include a short program of speakers from Robbinsville High School’s Genders and Sexualities Alliance, followed by music, celebration, and light food and beverages.

The event is for all ages, but attendees must be 21 or older to drink. Pride attire is not required, but enthusiastically encouraged. The Robbinsville Democratic Club is also hosting a Pride Forum on Wed., June 15 at 7 p.m via Zoom, to educate and inform the community about the most pressing challenges facing the local LGBTQ+ community and how allies can help.
