Dorothy Chaney (Richardson) Dorsey

Dorothy Chaney (Richardson) Dorsey of Trenton, NJ passed away peacefully at the blessed age of 92 on February 23, 2023 at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ.

Dorothy was an amazing mother to many and was affectionately known as “Mom Dorsey” and later as the “Mayor” at Riverview Estates. She attended Trenton Public Schools, Mercer County Community College, and the University of Pennsylvania. She retired from the City of Trenton in 1999 after 20 years of service, where she was named “Crossing Guard of the Year.” Dorothy had a heart of gold and showed love to everyone in her neighborhood. Her favorite pastimes were cooking and playing bingo.

Dorothy was the wife of the late Eugene Dorsey and daughter of the late Benjamin Tullis and Nette Beatrice Richardson. She was predeceased by daughter Nytasha Nikita Dorsey; brothers Benjamin Richardson II, Alfred Richardson, Donald Richardson, Robert Richardson, Joseph Richardson, and Thomas Richardson; and sisters Anna Long and Joan Richardson.

She leaves to mourn her memory sisters Josephine Hutton, Ethel Rosebud, Madeline Gibson, and Carol (David) Fields; brothers Ronald (Henrietta) Richardson and George (Rebecca) Richardson; daughters Yolonda (Gilbert) Williams, Dorene Greene, Yunsetta (Stewart) Shaw, Mildred Dianne Dorsey, and Kaymonique Miller; granddaughters Lisa Porter, Jean (Calvin) Whitehurst, Buffy Steed, Nakia White (James) Barr, Priscilla Beckett, and Eboni Miller; a grandson Eugene C. Dorsey; several great and great-great grandchildren; goddaughters LaWanda Milburn, Felicia Tard, Hazel Tard, and Gina Damiano; and a godson Eddie Bessant.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 9 at 9:15 a.m. at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be from 8-9:15 a.m.
