Richard Harris Barber, Sr., son of the late Jean and Willie Lee Barber was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He departed this life peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Richard was educated in the Trenton Public School System and attended Mercer County Community College, where he majored in Criminal Justice. He also took biblical courses.

Richard worked for Coca-Cola Foods and Distributi­on in Hightstown, NJ for 17 years. He later was employed by New Jersey Dept. of Correction­s as a Correction­s Officer for 20 years before retiring.

As a child, he was a member of Wayne Avenue Baptist Church. He then became a member of Evangelist­ic Church of Christ. Throughout his many years of ministry, he served as a Deacon at El-Bethel Church, Camden, NJ, Love Fellowship Tabernacle NJ and PA, and he fellowship­ped with Praise Center of Wilmington, Delaware.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth L. Barber; sister, Robin L. Barber and grandparen­ts, Lucy and Herbert Hayes, McKinley and Maxine Forrest.

Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Ann Hodges-Barber; son, Richard H. Barber, Jr.; daughter, Kamilah Jasmyn Barber “Mimi”; two grandsons, Khamael “Melly Mel” and Richard III “Tre”; goddaughte­r, Taraya Dwight “Rae Rae”; two special to his heart, Sharon Hodges and grandniece Keandrea Hodges “Kee Kee”; childhood best friend, David Lewis; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 12:00pm at Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries 1217 Calhoun St. Trenton, NJ 08638.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:30am to 12:00pm at the church.

Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
