Perhaps best known as the pitcher for the highlysuccessful Bill’s Olde Tavern women’s team, Kerin Pearson will be inducted into the Trenton Softball Hall of Fame at its 40th annual banquet on April 30.

After getting her start in softball at the age of eight, Pearson went on to have a long and distinguished career that really began to take shape as a four-year player for the John F. Kennedy High School team. She was twice named all-county as a catcher.

When Pearson later began playing modified fast pitch and slow pitch she became a pitcher. Among her earlier teams were the All American Matt & Al’s squad.

In 2000 Pearson joined the ranks of Bill’s Olde Tavern team, which won the first of many Trentonian Tourney titles in that year. She was also named the Most Valuable Player in The Trentonian Tourney in 2002 and would go on to play for many more championship teams while earning numerous MVP awards.

Bill’s eventually changed its sponsorship to Pete’s Steakhouse and Pearson continued to play for the next two decades. In 2018 she also started up her own tournament team named the Hot Mama’s, which won several championships in the Summer Slam and Breast Cancer tournaments.

Pearson has also coached Special Olympics softball and soccer for the past two years. Another personal highlight was the pleasure of coaching her daughter in the River Front League for five years and playing with her for the first time last year on Hot Mama’s.

This year’s inductees in the Men’s Player Division are Charles Maxwell, Mike Matto, Mark Drew, Frank DiRe, Eddie Rosado and Chris Russell. The women’s players who will be inducted are Patty Kinghorn and Pearson.

Frank Pasquito will be inducted in the Player/ Manager Division and Princeton’s Van Service’s Lou Decibus is the inductee in the Sponsorship Division.

In addition, six current high school athletes who play either softball or baseball will receive scholarships.

The banquet will be held on the Sunday of April 30 at John Henry’s Stone Terrace in Hamilton Township. Tickets are $65 per person and can be purchased by calling Artie Kearns at 609-771-6143 or Ed Fedorko at 609-226-6648.
