Always a well attended and highly anticipated event, the Trenton Softball Hall of Fame’s annual banquet will take place this year on April 28 at the Mercer Oaks Golf Course.

Among this year’s inductees are Timmy Dolan, who got his start in softball after a successful baseball career at Hamilton High and with Broad Street Park in the Mercer American Legion League.

Also a member of a Hamilton Babe Ruth League team that won a South Jersey District One championship, Dolan was a three-year starter at Hamilton High. As a senior he was named to the all-Mercer County team.

Dolan is perhaps best known in softball as a player for Lestician’s Trucking, which won a Mercer American League title and then was one of the top teams in the Mercer Major League. Considered a very clutch hitter, Dolan was among the Mercer Major’s batting leaders for several years.

As a member of Lestician’s, he was a key player on teams that won multiple New Jersey USSSA and ASA tournaments, and also enjoyed success competing in USSSA tourneys around the country. Dolan received MVP honors in several tournaments and was also on teams that did well in the 350-team Trentonian Tournament.

His local league play was not confined to Lestician’s as he was also a member of the Hibernian and Gersh’s Place teams in the Hamilton A League.

He also contributed to local sports as an umpire. Dolan was an umpire in Babe Ruth, high school and college games and at one point was the Vice President of the Mercer County Umpires Association.

In addition to Dolan, men’s inductees this year include Doug LeJambe, Willie Allen, Joe Marseglia, and Mark Olszak

The banquet on April 28 will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $70 and can be purchased at the door or by calling Artie Kearns at 609-771-6143.
