Mendocino Coast:

GREAT NEWS !! Fishing off the Mendocino Coast for Albacore Tuna is wonderful right now! Yup, “Charlie the Tuna” is just 10 — 15 miles off shore. And, boy of boy the tuna fishing has been off the hook lately. The word is everyone has been having a time of their lives. High fives, laughs and limits have been common ..

Lake Sonoma:

Well, Teresa and I along with our good friends Steve Black and Mark Crook had this grand idea to go fish Lake Sonoma. Our thoughts were the water quality is going to be great. And, shoot, last time we fished Sonoma we all did pretty good. So, lets give it a go.

You might be thinking to yourself, I wonder how they did ? WE STUNK

THE PLACE UP ! Yikes ! Teresa and I hooked in to a couple dinks. And, I won’t even talk about Steve and Mark. You can ask them if you see ‘um. I would suggest that you don’t waste your time bass fishing Lake Sonoma during the “Dog Days of Summer!”

* The bass fishing will be get better in two or three weeks.

Lake Mendocino:

I am sure you all know that the Lake Mendocino is shrinking. It is so sad to see. Back in 1976 I remember how low Lake Mendocino was. Back then it was a fluke. But, since then Lake Mendocino has been in it’s current sorry state several times. The futhuer of Lake Mendocino does not look promising. “The powers that be” say that they are going to remove the dam at Lake Pillsbury, which will also be the demise of Lake Mendocino. What in the world are people thinking ? Remove a dam which will destroy fisheries and, dry up our water reserves?

On a more positive note. The anglers that have been fishing from the shore have been hooking in to a few bass. Try casting spinnerbaits or crankbaits. Keep walking the shore line until you come across bass. Then, slow it up some and try a plastic worm.

Blue Lakes:

Trout fishing on the Upper Blue is been tough. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has not stocked Blue Lakes for months. Gosh, is Blue Lakes on Fish and Wildlife’s notty list ? Actually, this has been a pattern by Fish and Wildlife over the past few years. So, it is not a suprise. The few that have got on Blue Lakes water have hooked in to a some bass. But, all in all it is nothing to write home about.

Thanks for reading and remember to keep it reel !
