Leif Hubert-vilheim Carlsson

Leif Carlsson was born on November 3, 1939 in Gavle, Sweden and passed away peacefully in his home on December 18, 2020 in Ukiah, CA. Leif was a strong willed, stubborn, athletic man with a huge, giving heart. He grew up in Sweden with his mother, father and 2 sisters. Leif has two daughters in Sweden, Cissi and Maria, before coming to the United States. He was an Olympic trained gymnast, the Swedish Champion in ballroom dancing, folk dancer, draftsman, hockey player, tennis player, lumber mill grader, soccer coach and gardner. Anything he did, he did to perfection - A legend in many ways -"practice makes perfect". Leif traveled to America to find the "American Dream" in 1973. He met the love of his life, married and settled down in Ukiah, CA and started a family.

He married Mary Carlsson in 1978 and had 2 children, Kristina and Kurt Carlsson in 1980 and 1982. Leif and Mary raised their family and watched it grow with grandchild­ren over the years. His love for sports, helped him to be an attentive father, who was actively involved in his children’s lives and sports, a natural coach.

Leif is survived by his son Kurt Carlsson and grand daughter Bella Rose Carlsson, daughter Kristina (Carlsson) Thompson (Aaron Thompson) and grandson Sawyer Thompson, ex-wife Mary Carlsson, daughter Cissi Reitz (Ake Reitz) and grand daughters Andrea Reitz and Johanna Reitz, sister Inga-lil Carlson and his sister-in-law Catherine Nelson.

Leif was and still is very much loved, Rest in Peace.

Sadly missed along life’s way, quietly remembered everyday...no longer in our life to share, but in our hearts you’re always there.
