Ukiah man accused of slaying his brother
Public asked to assist with investigation
A 38-year-old Ukiah man was charged with murder this week in connection with the stabbing death of his brother, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to the MCSO, deputies and officers from the Ukiah Police Department responded to the 100 block of Laws Avenue around 5 a.m. Jan. 19 after multiple callers reported a stabbing had occurred.
The law enforcement officers soon located a man in an apartment suffering from stab wounds identified as 30-year-old Jordan Luna, who was later declared deceased by responding emergency medical personnel.
Also in the apartment was the
victim’s brother, identified as Jeremiah B. Luna, 38, who was detained and later arrested on suspicion of murder.
Luna, who was also charged with violating his parole, was booked into
Mendocino County Jail under $500,000 bail.
The MCSO notes that “the circumstances surrounding the incident, such as motive, are still under investigation at this time,” and that it is requesting that any members of the public who might have pertinent information regarding the case, or have knowledge of activities occurring between 1 and 5 a.m. in the 100 block of Laws Avenue, call the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Tip-line at 707-234-2100.
Personnel from Medstar Ambulance, the Ukiah Police Department, the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office, and the Department of Justice Bureau of Forensics Santa Rosa and Eureka Labs also responded to assist.
