Donald Cool (aka: The Lone Ranger)

-

Passed away on February 13, 2021 at 11:30PM. He quietly rode off to spend Valentine’s Day with his soulmate, Kathy (aka: Silver Bullet). Don married Kathy Hart on October 18, 1975. Any family member would describe Don as the “best” husband, son, brother, uncle, or friend. Don was born in Fairmont, NE on January 18, 1936 to Harry and Lillie Cool. The Cool family relocated to Oregon before landing in Fortuna, CA where Don graduated from high school. He subsequently attended Humboldt State University and honorably served 4 years in the US Air Force before finding work in the lumber industry. He worked for Crawford Lumber and Louisiana Pacific and retired as a grading inspector in the 1990s. Don and Kathy frequently traveled to Europe and visited more castles than previously thought humanly possible. They could also be counted on to zoom across the desert to Wyoming or Colorado to go hunting every fall with the family caravan or traveling across the United States with their troop of Lhasa Apsos. Don is survived by his sister, Donna Hart, whom he had his daily 4 o’clock phone therapy with. Donna was his lifeline after the death of Kathy in 2013 along with “Lizzie” his faithful pup. Don and Kathy did not have children of their own, but welcomed their nieces and nephews with open arms. Don leaves behind many of those family members including Pam, Christina, & Matthew Baskin, David Mccaa, and Chance, Jenna, Kerri, & Cliff Hart. No services are planned at this time.
