Ukiah Unified adds more hybrid learning

I want to thank everyone for their patience, love, and understanding as we continue on our path back to in-person instruction. It was very exciting to see all of the bright smiling eyes of our students as some returned to hybrid learning last week.

I am overjoyed to announce that on Monday (Feb. 22) we opened Grades 3-6 throughout the district to hybrid learning. Regardless of whether you choose in-person instruction or distance learning, we are committed to providing the best education possible for all children. The return of grades 7-12 is subject to Mendocino County being in the Red Tier. We are not sure when we will be in the Red Tier so we don’t have a date yet for reopening our secondary grades, but we will begin calling families in the next two weeks to determine your educational preference so we are ready to reopen as soon as we are able.

We’re all so excited to begin bringing our kids back to school in person! Help ensure our return to school will be safe and healthy for everyone by reinforcing these crucial COVID-19 mitigation practices with your children:

Wear A Mask: Masks and face coverings prevent people from getting and spreading COVID-19. Wearing a mask or face covering is now required of every Californian when outside of their home, with limited exceptions. Masks will be worn over the nose and mouth at all times, and they must fit correctly. Read more in the new and expanded mask guidance from the California Department of Public Health.

Physical Distancing: A distance of 6 feet or more between yourself and others dramatically reduces the risk for spreading COVID-19.

Hand Hygiene: Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds or more several times throughout each day is one of the most important things we can do to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Screening At Home: Students and staff are required to complete a daily temperature check and self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, and fever at home before coming to school or getting on a bus. Anyone who feels sick or is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms must stay home.

No Visitors: Reducing the number of visitors to our schools will help us stop potential exposures. Parents and Guardians will not be permitted on campus without an appointment and must stay in their vehicles during drop-off and pick-up.

COVID-19 Testing: You are strongly encouraged to allow your child to participate in our COVID-19 testing program. We have been designated a lab under the California Department of Public Health and began testing our employees this week. More information regarding the program will be coming in the next week.

Please help us by having your child regularly tested.
