Dennis Joseph Pickner
Dennis was born in Santa Barbara, California November forth, nineteen thirtyeight. He had a massive heart attack at St Helena Hospital and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on March fifteenth, two thousand twenty-one. Dennis and his parents moved to Ukiah when he was twelve years old. He graduated from Ukiah High in 1957 attended Santa Rosa JC for two years. Dennis served in the U.S. Army for two years. He retired from Masonite as a Journeyman Electrician after 42 years. Shortly after that, Masonite shut down. October fourth, nineteen seventy-eight Dennis married his wife Barbara Ann Pickner of forty-two years. Together they raised four children. Dennis was a very active man. He loved to run. Over the years, he ran in several races. His family enjoyed going and watching him, cheering him on. He ran several Whale Runs along the coast and many 5Ks in Lake Tahoe, even the Bolder Boulder 10K at sixtyseven years of age. On one of many family trips to Tahoe, he rode the Flume Trail with his sons Marty and Mark. He passionately loved God and loved people. Dennis has been a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Ukiah. He has actively served his church family every chance he had.
Dennis loved his family and friends. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling, watching Bill Gather, playing card games, and fellowship with friends and family. Dennis will always be remembered for: His Love for everyone, his Kind heart, smile and handshake for everyone, stories for every occasion, being super friendly he never knew a stranger, he treated everyone with love and kindness, feeding his birds, loved his cat, counting “his” cows, greeted everyone with a hug and his orange Winter Park sweatpants, every person that he ever talked to will never forget his smile. Dennis was a Man of God. Always walked the walk of Christ! He Never let a person leave or way away without saying, “God Bless You.” He has been very inspiring, made you want to be the best version of you, his humility, his loveable and quickwitted humor. He genuinely loved everyone, great listener, held you accountable, remembers everything you say to him.
Dennis is survived by his wife Barbara Pickner, their children Cory Pickner and his spouse Tonya Pickner, Dana Pickner-foley and her spouse David Foley, Marty Hooper and his spouse Peggy Hooper, and Mark Hooper, their grandchildren Connor Pickner, Christopher Pickner, Sequoyah Pickner, Daniel Pickner, and Icie Hooper and fiancé Brandon Smith, his sister Joan Butler, nephew Jim Butler, niece Kathy Dryden, nephew Jeremy Simms, nephew Joseph Dryden, and niece Haylee Simms. Dennis is predeceased by his parents Milburn and Alice Pickner. Dennis’s calming presence will be missed by all. Rest in peace Dad, we love you.
