Margaret (Meg) Louise (Mitchell) Mackler

died on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in Redwood Valley, Ca. She was born on December 19, 1941 to Winifred and Ted Mitchell in Napa, Ca. The family moved to Ukiah in 1947. Meg attended Yokayo and Pomilita schools and her freshman year of high school in Ukiah. She completed her high school years in Denver, Co., graduating from East Denver High School in 1959. She then returned to Ukiah and trained as a Psychiatri­c Technician at Mendocino State Hospital, where she worked until returning to Colorado in 1963. She then worked at Fort Logan Mental Health Center in Denver until she and her husband adopted their first child. They adopted their second child two and one half years later. When both sons were in school full time she went back to school herself to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She took her training at Porter Memorial Hospital and worked there as a staff nurse until again returning to Ukiah in 1983. She worked at Ukiah Adventist Hospital /Ukiah Valley Medical Center until she retired in 2004. She loved being a nurse and took pride in the fact that she was able to care for those in need and believed everyone deserved to be treated with respect and dignity.

She continued being a caregiver after her retirement from hospital nursing. She worked with both Ukiah Hospice and Phoenix Hospice as well as doing private care-giving. She will be best remembered for how caring she was. Meg loved to cook and always said she “didn’t cook fancy, but no-one should walk away from her table hungry”. Other hobbies included reading, knitting and liquid embroidery painting. She was active in her church senior adult program and in Bible study at Redwood Valley Community Church. Her children Brian Mackler preceded her in death and her son Zane Mackler of Arvada, Co., survives her. She leaves behind six grandchild­ren behind. Her sister Ruth (Philip) Frisbie of Ukiah as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children also survive her. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joe Mitchell Sr. A celebratio­n of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Redwood Valley Community Church, 951 School Way, Redwood Valley, Ca. Respecting the wishes of the deceased, in lieu of flowers or contributi­ons, the family suggests you do a random act of kindness for a stranger. Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
