- Marguerite (Peggy) Ann Bartolomei

, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 3rd at the age of 87. Peggy was born in Dallas, Texas to J.B. and Dorothy Smith. During WWII, Peggy’s family relocated to California to help with the war efforts and eventually settled in Ukiah. While attending Ukiah High School, Peggy met her future husband of 67 years and lifelong sweetheart Clarence Bartolomei. Peggy was a talented singer, having received vocal training from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Although she left her musical career behind to become a devoted wife and mother, Peggy gladly lent her singing talents to weddings and to her local congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As her children grew up, Peggy worked in the medical field as a physical therapy aide and administrative assistant. In 2018, Clarence and Peggy retired to Redding, CA to be closer to one of her children. Peggy loved life and made friends wherever she went. She liked nothing more than going on walks with friends, spending time with family, or tending her garden. Peggy continues to be an example of diligence, courage, and faith to the loved ones she leaves behind. She is survived by her children: Paul, Don and his wife Lisa, Melissa and her husband Gene, and Troy and his wife Jeannie; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Peggy is predeceased by her husband Clarence, her daughter-in-law Vicki, her children Wayne Blake and Lisa Ann; and her sisters Ruthie and Jane. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on July 15th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3410 Churn Creek Road, Redding, CA.
