POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymousl­y report crime informatio­n, call 463-6205.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER STOLEN: Caller in the 600 block of Capps Lane reported at 10:40 a.m. July 1 that a catalytic converter had been stolen off a vehicle. A report was taken.

DISTURBANC­E: Caller at the Building Bridges homeless shelter on South State Street reported at 6:12 p.m. July 1 that a man was screaming and throwing items. An officer responded and arrested a 36-year-old Washington man for being drunk in public. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.

STOLEN VEHICLE: An officer responded to a motel on South Orchard Avenue at 7:54 p.m. July 1 and took a report of a stolen vehicle.

MATTRESS ON FIRE: An officer responded to the 1100 block of Airport Park Boulevard at 4:10 a.m. July 2 for a report of a mattress on fire and arrested Royce Fulton, 37, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of arson. He was booked into county jail.

ASSAULT: An officer responded to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley at 12:41 p.m. July 2 for a report of a mentally ill patient assaulting someone and took a report.

WASHING MACHINES VANDALIZED: Caller in the 100 block of Observator­y Avenue requested at 1:22 p.m. July 2 to speak to an officer about washing machines being vandalized.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:

An officer responded to the CHP office on South Orchard Avenue at 1:33 p.m. July 2 for a citizen who was reporting an incident and took a report of domestic violence. At 10:37p.m., Juan Saavedra, 40, of Ukiah, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

VEHICLE CRASH NEAR POST OFFICE: An officer responded to the Ukiah Post Office on South Orchard Avenue at 7:25 p.m. July 2 for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a fence at a nearby constructi­on site. The driver of the vehicle could not be located.

KITTENS AT MCDONALDS: Caller at Mcdonald’s on North Orchard Avenue reported at 8:58 p.m. July 2 there were kittens there that were possibly abandoned. An officer responded but did not find them.

DEAD CAT: Caller in the 1100 block of Airport Park Boulevard reported at 9:08 p.m. July 2 that a dead cat was in the road. The informatio­n was given to streets

employees.

SOMEONE JUMPED FENCE: Caller in the 500 block of Empire Drive reported at 9:57 p.m. July 2 that someone with a flashlight had jumped a fence. An officer responded and reported that it was a juvenile who had permission to retrieve a Nerf dart.

LOOSE GOATS: An officer was flagged down on Leslie Street at 12:28 p.m. July 3 for a report of loose goats in the road. Assistance was provided.

BACKYARD FURNITURE MOVED: Caller in the 400 block of Grove Avenue requested at 8:20 p.m. July 3 to speak to an officer about their “backyard furniture being out of place.”

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Caller in the 700 block of South State Street reported at 12:05 a.m. July 4 that a domestic violence incident had just occurred. An officer responded and arrested Michael Bloyd, 50, of Boonville, on suspicion of domestic violence and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.

WOMAN REFUSING

TO LEAVE: An officer responded to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley at 3:34 a.m. July 4 for a report of a woman refusing to leave and arrested a 58-year-old Talmage woman for trespassin­g. She was booked into county jail.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:

An officer responded to the 600 block of Empire Drive at 11:07 a.m. July 4 and issued a “Be On The Lookout” for a female suspect. At 5:57 p.m., the suspect, Amanda D. Chapman, 39, of Ukiah, reported to UPD headquarte­rs on Seminary Avenue to provide a statement and was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonme­nt and causing damage to a communicat­ions device. She was booked into county jail.

Those arrested by law enforcemen­t officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the informatio­n is in error should contact the appropriat­e agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcemen­t agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
