Hot Buttered Rum to perform Sunday
Sundays in the Park free concert begins at 6 p.m.
Hot Buttered Rum, a band from Sonoma County whose music has been described as “progressive bluegrass folk,” will perform Sunday evening in Todd Grove Park (July 25) in the second of four 2021 Sundays in the Park free community concerts presented by the City of Ukiah with support from local businesses and organizations.
“There has been a lot of social media buzz about them, a lot of excitement for this type of show and they are great performers,” Carter Grissom, the city’s Sundays in the Park concert series promoter, said in an interview before the series began.
Ukiah’s forecast high for this Sunday is 103 degrees, but the weather will likely be cooling down by the time the concert begins at 6 p.m., and in addition to shade provided by Todd Grove’s towering trees, the park often benefits from an evening breeze.
This year’s concert lineup includes several bands that had been scheduled to perform in 2020, but were unable to do so due to the pandemic, and agreed to return this year.
After this weekend’s concert, there will be two more Sundays in the Park concerts this summer in Todd Grove Park, beginning at 6 p.m., and featuring:
• Aug. 1: Thrive, pop party reggae with Rising Signs
• Aug. 15: Diggin Dirt, high energy funk
Concert etiquette
• No pets allowed
• Personal barbecues are allowed only at the picnic table areas
• High-back chairs are allowed only along the perimeter of the event
• No smoking is allowed within the main event area
The free Sundays in the Park concerts are presented by the City of Ukiah, with major underwriting and substantial funding by numerous community businesses and organizations. For more information, call 707-463-6231 or visit the city’s website at www.cityofukiah.com.
