Another Covid-19 death reported
Positive case at Ukiah restaurant
Mendocino County health officials announced Wednesday in separate press releases that another county resident has recently died from the Covid-19 virus, and that someone connected to a downtown restaurant has tested positive.
According to the first press release, “the Mendocino County Covid-19 Department Operations Center has confirmed a positive Covid-19 case at Patrona Restaurant and Lounge, located at 130 W. Standley St. in Ukiah.”
The release does not describe the person who tested positive as an employee of the business, but explains that “members of the public who visited this facil
ity between July 23 — July 24, 2021, may have been exposed to Covid-19, and are advised to seek Covid-19 testing if unvaccinated, or seek testing if exhibiting symptoms while vaccinated.”
“Public Health still urges members of the public to exercise their best judgment when making decisions that might affect their health and the health of the community,” the release continues. “We appreciate the cooperation of the local businesses to find those who could be exposed, and Public Health only publishes their names when we are unable to specifically identify everyone in the public who could have been exposed.”
Patrona owner Craig Strattman is quoted as saying, “I have always taken the health and safety of our community very seriously. When it became clear that one of our team had tested positive, we immediately followed the protocols set by Mendocino County Public
Health for sanitization and tested. All of our employees have been testing and it is very safe to come to Patrona.”
The second press release reports that a 73-year-old Willits man recently died due to Covid-19, and that
the county has now lost 51 people to the virus. The release does not state whether or not the man was vaccinated.
County Public Health officials are urging all residents to “stay home from work when exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19: Fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Other symptoms may include chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, fatigue, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or new loss of taste or smell.”
Since Friday, July 23, county health officials have
reported 75 new cases of Covid-19 for a total of 4,658 as of July 28.
