AIR QUALITY: The Mendocino County Air Quality Management District released an advisory Monday afternoon for Tuesday through Thursday that states: “Currently air monitors show particulate matter concentrations in the “Moderate” to “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” air quality level for most parts of the county, and “Good” for the coastal areas. Current smoke impacts are from surrounding wildfires to the north and east of Mendocino County, where fire growth continues in rough terrain. Smoke from these fires is mainly over the northern and inland areas of Mendocino County. For more detailed and current air quality and smoke information visit: https://fire. airnow.gov
“Expect widespread haze and smoke impacts to continue for most of Mendocino County with marginal improvements to the air quality as we approach Friday. Meteorological conditions are forecast to be shifting SW calm winds with higher temperatures. This should continue our offshore breeze to the coast. The nearby fires are expected to continue with periods of smoke generation. Air quality for coastal areas is expected to remain in the “Good” level through the end of the week. While surrounding wildfires are active, expect unpredictable smoke impacts to air quality followed by multiple periods of some relief through the next several days.” UKIAH VALLEY FIRE AUTHORITY
