UKIAH VALLEY FIRE AUTHORITY

FIRE: UVFA crews were dispatched after a caller reported at 11:23 a.m. Tuesday that there was a “homeless fire under the Highway 101 overpass at Ford Road.” FIRE: UVFA crews were dispatched at 11:09 p.m. Thursday to the bridge under South Orchard Avenue when a caller reported a fire under the bridge. A Ukiah Police officer also responded to assist. POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymousl­y report crime informatio­n, call 463-6205. WOMAN CHOPPING TREE:

Caller in the 1000 block of South State Street reported at 2:08 p.m. Nov. 5 that a woman with a hatchet was chopping down a tree. An officer responded and the woman left upon request. VANDALISM: Caller at Todd Grove Park reported at 8:10 p.m. Nov. 5 that the bathroom was possibly being vandalized. An officer responded and reported that a “permitted mural was being painted.”

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of East Gobbi Street at 1:18 a.m. Nov. 6 and arrested Sebastian Knox, 36, of Redwood Valley, on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was cited and released. CUSTOMER REFUSING TO WEAR MASK: Caller at Ukiah Natural Foods on South State Street reported at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 that a man was causing a disturbanc­e after refusing to put on a mask. An officer responded and the man left upon request. MAN RIDING BIKE IN STORE: Caller at Safeway on South State Street reported at 7:27 p.m. Nov. 7 that a man was riding a bicycle inside the store. An officer responded and arrested a 31-year-old Ukiah man (who is frequently arrested for similar offenses) on suspicion of public intoxicati­on. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:

An officer responded to the 100 block of Leslie Street at 7:53 p.m. Nov. 7 for a report of a fight and arrested Jorge Perez Hernandez, 28, of Ukiah, on suspicion of domestic violence and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail. LOOSE ROOSTER: Caller at Costco on Airport Park Boulevard reported at 4:07 p.m. Nov. 8 that a rooster was running around the parking lot. No officer was dispatched.

Those arrested by law enforcemen­t officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the informatio­n is in error should contact the appropriat­e agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcemen­t agencies are reported by the newspaper.
